Buying a bike in Siberia

There was a lot of extra time since it is "Tomb Sweeping Holiday" here in China. People have a 3 day vacation, this time my vacation wasn't very exciting...Just hanging around here waiting for the project to get completed. Anyway I went around a long walk in the town to find a bike shop. After some questioning around I got to know they have a bike shop on the Second Avenue. Manzhouli is divided into 6 different avenues. There are only these 6 main streets. By these streets are all the shops and restaurants. It's basically impossible to get lost here if you are sober.

After buying the bike I set course for the far east part of the town where they have a huge wood mill factory. The bike is really too small for me and hard to get moving but hey it was only 300 rmb...That's just about 30 euros. There were dozens of trucks and so much saw dust and dust from the roads since there was no asphalt, must have eaten a lot of dust. But it was worth the trip! First I got the the rail tracks which leads all the way to Europe. Here are the Trans Siberian Tracks that cross the Chinese border to Russia when it comes to cargo trains. Thousands of containers pass here every month.

Big part of the electricity comes from the windmills. Logs are imported from Russia. Processed in China into furniture and then 60% are sent back to Russia as furniture and the rest for the domestic market.
At the highest point of Manzhouli they built a cathedral to hold their wedding ceremonies. It looks like some kind of copy of Paris Notre Dam...View from here was great! Wasteland and the little town of 60.000 people....

Road of no return?

I wonder who got the idea to build this HERE
