Long time no see ! Some Singapore Covid memories

Covid really took the best of my motivation to write and post anything here. Even after it was over the last 9 months it's been difficult to get started again. But now back in business!

Will continue to write each time there is a new travel, I have a bit of backlog to do!

From April 2020 until September 2021 Singapore was more or less closed. Very rigid covid restrictions and long quaranties in hotels from 14 - 21 days. Stayed on this "Red Dot" island 18 months without seeing anyone home.

Here are a looooot of pictures from Singapore during that time, I really turned around every stone on this island and trying hundreds of restaurants, scenic spots and bars. There was however a prolonged period when no dine in was allowed, only take away. Singapore also imposed ridiculous restrictions of 8 diners, 5 diners and 2 diners during this whole 18 months. We have to check into every damn shop and supermarket we went to. No phone app with vaccines showing green, no going in.

The view from the balcony before they had started building up stuff, could see Malaysia. So near but so far and unaccessible during Covid.

Ye old cake and cookie shop near golden mile complex that been there over 50 years. The owner started young but by now he must be one of the oldest shop keepers in Singapore. If anyone looking for oldschool snacks head over to this sweet old guy.

Schools were at least kept open, was nice to explore Kembangan area on breaks and after school too
Sometimes it was difficult to find hope during Covid...
School roti lunch
Omnomnomnom
Kembangan MRT station
Lots of colorful shophouses at Joo Chiat nearby
In the height of Covid they opened a "Jurassic Mile" jsut next to ariport terminal 3. A real highlight when there wasn't anywhere else to go.

Was invited to a home dinner at a Finnish family far in the west. Very green MRT station and their Xmas decorations must have been by some Americans.

Lots of areas in Singapore have free roaming chickens and roosters. Like these...I've also seen some wild boars....and monkeys

Really need to be careful with these guys, they come and steal your food!
Festive dinner at Vue to celebrate my new job! After almost 7 years at BioGaia opening up Asia to a whole new world of probiotics, I got an offer from Probi via a headhunter. Probi is also Swedish but focuses more on adult probiotics as BioGaia is more pediatrics. I will not open up the APAC market for Probi in the coming years, very happy to start something new!
Spectacular view and food at VUE!

The closest thing I got to Thailand was 555 Villa Thailand just next to the Singapore airport. I remember sending a picture of Bangkok airport and most people bought it that I had someone made it to Thailand without quarantine. Very capable traveler....

Just grilling some Mookata
A Vietnamese brewery opened a bar in Singapore called Heart of Darkness, super nice beers but a bit expensive. Worth a few sips though

Late night walk around east coast beach while taking a phone meeting with Europe
Singapore Science museum was displaying Team Labs from Japan, was just as good!

My corona squid
Old iconic dragon parks in Singapore, still have 3 of them. Most of them had to be put down because they were dangerous for kids and many got hurt. Not really surprised because it was just concrete and metal :D

Amazing Singapore CRAB!
A weekend outing in Sembawang. There is a cool old colonial house turned into a restaurant. Old British officers house.
