So that we don't spend our whole week in Shanghai only with Hede we decided to take a quick trip to Hong Kong! Finnair's plane lands in Pudong around 8 am and our next flight was 13.50. Pick Hede up and put the luggage home and then set back to Pudong airport.
This guy was singing while dancing with a dog on his shoulders. Great srteet art....
Stufff in the street, giant orange squids and dried bats on a stick, yummyyyy
Following day most mostly about sightseeing. The Buddha, Peak, Walk of Fame, History Muesum, Night market, Dim Sum and strolling around.
The giant Buddha statue is on the top of a mountain build just before Hong Kong was given back from UK to China. The day was kinda misty but there was so much people in the que for the cable carts so we took the buss up. Was the first time I've done so and it was 1/3 of the price per person and took about the same time. And did not have to que at all. Cable carts had about 200 meters of que.
The walk of fame has old time Hong Kong stars like Bruce Lee and Jet Li. Also others with more funny names like this one here....
The Peak has been a main attraction point since 1920 already. Back in the days the British build a wire cart up to the hill that sees over whole of Hong Kong. Was very misty in the night so didn't manage to take that good pictures.
There are 2 night markets that I know of. One in Jordan and a bigger one in Mongkok. They besically have the same stuff as the markets in China and slightly higher prices. I also noticed that cameras are actually cheaper to buy in Finland. Which makes no sense at all....Have to get myself a new one when going there next time!
For dinner we had traditional Hong Kongnese Dim Sum. Dim Sum are small dishes of different kinds. There are salty and sweet ones. The ones we had were filled with shrimps, pork, beef, chicken and custard for dessert.
Museum here is awesome! There is so much history in Hong Kong. The opium wars 150 years ago, colony to UK for 150 years, Japanese occupation, the fact that chinese people need a visa to Hong Kong even though it is "part of China" and foreigners don't need a visa etc.
Next morning wake up at 6 am go to Macao by Ferry! We came to the ferry station and got the ticket and 15 minutes later the boat took of. Smooth and easy plus only costs 15 euros one-way.
Shanghai airport
We flew with Spring Airlines which is a budget plane company. I wanted to order 2 sandwiches from the menu but they didn't have them in stock. The had 1 other that looked kinda crap and was cold....oh well. Then I asked for a bottle of wine but they didn't have that either, finally we got 2 warm Qingdao beers, just great!
Apart from the bad food and warm beer and 1h delay in the flight Spring Airlines was OK. Got a vert basic hotel at Jordan in Hong Kong and first night we headed out for some walking in town. Took the ferry between the islands back and forth and walked arond in Central before hitting LKF to check out the bars and restaurants. Always super packed on Fridays much like Sanlitun in Beijing.
LKF!
All kinds of drinks available...tasted like petrol
Looks crap on the outside but was nice on the inside and only about 50 euro a night
View from the hotel
Some ramdom pics taken in the streets
The had a "occupy Central" movement going on, lots of people living in tents. Very much like occupy Wall Street in US.Stufff in the street, giant orange squids and dried bats on a stick, yummyyyy
Following day most mostly about sightseeing. The Buddha, Peak, Walk of Fame, History Muesum, Night market, Dim Sum and strolling around.
On the way down from the Buddha there are a few really huge aparment complexes..and they ALL look the same! Also a copy of a small version of the Sidney Opera with the biggest out door swimming pool n Hong Kong is here.
Hills and green...nothing like Beijing or Shanghai
Now which one did I live in...? Population: Same as a city in Finland

They have a lightshow everyday starting at 8 pm but it was kinda misty
