After finally getting down to La Serena after a cancelled flight everything was very quiet. There were basically no open restaurants in La Serena and not a single shop either. The whole 3 nights I was there used the same clothes because my baggage was still in Santiago. Army mode on !
La Serena was a beautiful resort city with long sandy beaches, a place where locals come for a vacation or weekend get-away. All the protests had left the city dead quiet, exploring streets when nothing was open a different kind of experience.

Flying out of Santiago was met with a lot of mountains
First day was nice and sunny! Walked up to the northern part of the beach with an old lighthouse
La Serena I'm here!
Some protesters set something on fire not very far from my hotel
View from hotel room was niiiice
Second day was a bit cloudy but I still managed to slightly burn my nose. Had no idea the UV would be so strong. Then again, even if I had wanted to buy sunscreen there wouldn't have been any because everything closed. Took a taxe pretty much to where the rays come down at Coquimbo city.
Iglesis de San Pedro. Lating churches look a lot different than Europe
Memorial outside
Very inviting supermarket open for fruit sales. One of the very few I found open...
Pretty funky design on their stadium
Top of the hill!
Colourful houses and nice views
Jesus was watching over this city
Walking on the beach. Tons of birds and carcasses found.
Gigant sea lion on the beach washed up...ugh
Pelicans!
Oldschool! Like grease lightning
Meni pelikaani turbiinista läpi
Saviche salmon
Went for a walk a bit north of the city to see if I could find any shops. Nope, all barred and closed
Walls had been build around the malls
Not sure when I had this much beard before
Last day I was leaving the protesters came in by hundreds on bikes, cars were jammed on the road. Luckily the way to the airport wasn't blocked in any way.
