Hong Kong, Day 1

Early flight, had to get up at 5:30 today and head to the airport. The place I live at is pretty close to the Airport Express Way so it only takes 20 minutes to drive.

Breakfast: Frappucino Mocha & Egg Bacon Sandwich from Starbucks :) Too bad we don't have a single

Starbucks in Finland yet, they really know how to make good coffees and Frappucinos (ice coffees)

Beijing was really windy this morning, when the place was taking off it started going zigzag, right left and it felt really strange. Once up in the air there were a lot of turbulence and it felt as being in some theme park ride. so far the "rockies" airplane ride I had (you don't wanna fly from Beijing to HK mom)

First time flying with a Hong Kongnese flight company, seats are big, food was ok and the staff speaks fluent english. So much better than all the China Mainland companies!

In Hong Kong they use traditional Chinese characters instead of the Simplified made up when Mao was in charge of China back in the days of "Culture Revolution" 1966-1976.

I'm surprised how many of the Traditional Characters I can read and recognize! It's looks like the character

I'm used to see but has a lot more strokes and symbols. It's like solving some sloppy persons handwriting (like mine).

The port is on the way from the airport and its HUGE as can be seen from the pictures. Hollands Rotterdamn is also big but this somehow feels much bigger when you sit in a bus just above it on the worlds largest highway bridge.

Live in a Hostel pretty central, only costs 10 euros a day! 2 minute walk to the subway and a 7-11 + McDonald's downstairs 24/7 open. This room has 8 beds in total, at the moment there are 4 other people sleeping here, so far all very nice. Met this train driver from Australia who had been to Finland for a week in February. He didn't really enjoy the snow…

When I went to give in the Visa papers it was amazinglily smooth, only took 15 minutes and they are ready to be picked up on monday for around 40 euros, wow.

I went to see worlds biggest Buddha statue on the top of a mountain today. But i could not have

chose the day worse. It was so foggy up in the mountains that i couldn't see anything that was more than 100 meter further. Still got some pics from the cable carts and the Buddha.

Walked around downtown by myself in the evening just looking around, this place is huge!
